Costing
What Drives the Cost of Custom Perfume Manufacturing in the UAE
By Black Oud Factory

Unit cost is not one number, it is seven. Knowing which of the seven you can move is the difference between a quote you accept and a quote you improve.
When a brand asks what a custom perfume costs, the honest answer is a question: which of the seven components do you want to control? A quote that arrives as one number per unit is a quote you cannot negotiate.
The seven line items
- Fragrance concentrate — driven by materials and concentration, from an accessible accord to distilled oud oil
- Alcohol and base — modest per unit, but relevant to shipping classification
- Glass — shape, weight and whether the mould is stock or dedicated
- Closure and cap — pump or crimp, plus the cap material and weight
- Decoration — one cost per pass through printing, foiling, frosting or coating
- Outer packaging — folding carton, rigid box, insert and any tray
- Assembly and QC — labour per unit, plus batch testing and certificates
Volume moves some items, not all
Volume compresses setup-heavy items hardest. Screen printing setup and box tooling spread across more units; concentrate cost barely moves because it is materials. This is why a jump from 100 to 1,000 units can cut unit cost sharply on a decorated bottle and hardly at all on a plain-fill attar.
Where brands overspend
The most common overspend is a heavy dedicated mould on a first run before the scent has been market-tested. The second is decoration complexity that no customer notices at arm's length. The third is air freight booked late to recover time lost during artwork approval — a cost that is entirely avoidable with a realistic schedule.
Realistic lead times
Fragrance development and pre-production sampling run at roughly two weeks from an approved brief. Production time after sign-off depends on volume, decoration passes and packaging. Custom rigid boxes and dedicated moulds are almost always the longest pole; if a date is fixed, design the specification around the packaging lead time rather than the other way round.
Getting a quote you can act on
Send product type, target market, target retail price, volume and deadline. Our team quotes each of the seven lines separately so you can see exactly where the cost sits and which levers are worth pulling before you commit to production.
